I think they are supposed to give them 4 weeks, but we know of cases where the DWP have only waited a couple of weeks and others where they have waited months.
It is certainly worth your speaking to your GP if there is a report outstanding.

I note that the document bro linked to tells medics that they should return to completed paperwork within 5 working days!
