DLA face to face assessment after decision made was created by 25megroup
I am seeking some general advice re a scenario where the DWP remit Atos to carry out a face to face assessment in connection with a DLA renewal - but only after the renewal decision has been made and the person decided to lodge an appeal.
I expect this may be about the DWP seeking further evidence to decide whether to change decision or pass case on to Tribunals Service. However the letter about the appointment makes no reference to an appeal having been lodged.
Has anyone else come across this happening?

Both the DWP and the Tribunal panel can order an assessment be carried out when a Decision has been challenged and one was not carried out as part of the original deliberations.
Certainly the Tribunal Service will write to you to inform you of the requirement, I would like to say that the DWP would do this also, but their admin is quite appalling, so it does not surprise me that they have not.
You can always contact them for confirmation of why this medical has been ordered.
