We’ll Cut The Benefit Cap By £6,000, Says Osborne
It has been reported today that George Osborne may consider cutting the benefit cap, if evidence emerges which shows that the controversial policy reduces welfare expenditure and encourages unemployed people into work.
The benefit cap, rolled out across Britain on Monday, currently stands at a maximum of £26,000 and encompasses a number of benefits including Jobseekers Allowance, Child Benefit, Housing Benefit and other state benefits, but the Tories would like to see the cap cut by another £6,000 to no more than £20,000 per annum per family.
