I know each case is different and DWP operate in a different ime dimension to mere mortals, but any idea on average how long it takes DWP to make a decision following a actual report. Either to make an award or see you in a face to face.

Cheers

Joking aside, we have heard of periods of as little as a week and as long as six months, there is simply too much variation in the system to give any realistic averages.

For ESA it will be ATOS who make the decision on whether an assessment is required, if they do not require one then the claimants file is returned to the DWP, this probably takes 10 days, if one is required then you are probably looking at 2 weeks to arrange an appointment that will be within the following three weeks.

Once the file is back with the DWP it is entirely dependant on how big the pile on the Decision Maker's desk is.

For DLA, the time is more consistent, most Decision are made in about 13 weeks, but when there is variation it can be quite significant.

The GP's can certainly cause a big delay in completing the reports, so if you are aware that your GP has been requested to make one it is certainly worth chasing them.
