No, you are not obliged to contact DWP - or to take the call if it is made. The process will continue and you will receive the ESA50 form in due course, whether or not you speak to DWP on the phone. However, if the form does not arrive in a timely manner you should contact DWP to find out what is happening as you have a limited time to complete and submit the form after it has been dispatched.

If you wish to get ahead of the game, you could download the PDF version of the form and start filling it in with the help of our guides.

Hi i,

Yes, it does include catheters, and stoma bags.

This descriptor is explained from page 58 of our ESA Claims Guides on Physical Health Grounds under the heading of "New ESA50 form"

Hi d,

Yes, SDA recipients who are registered blind will still have to undergo the SDA to ESA transfer process.

You should have a read of the information under the heading :

"How to explain problems with: 7. Other people communicating with you"

From page 52 onwards of our ESA Claims Guides on Physical Health Grounds under the heading of "New ESA50 form"

On this page :

ESA Claims Guides

As you will see, if you cannot understand communication by verbal means (such as hearing or lip reading)

OR

You cannot understand communication by non-verbal means (such as reading 16 point print or Braille)

Then, you should be placed into the Support Group of ESA.

You will still have to fill in an ESA50 and go through the WCA process.

Have a read of : "Being transferred from incapacity benefit to employment and support allowance" on the same : ESA Claims Guides page as above.
