PIP if DLA to be given 'indefinitely'(?) was created by davidkent
My cousin receives DLA and has has done so since the mid -1990s.
It was originally awarded for 5 years, i.e,, a set time-period and when this
expired, she reapplied, and again a set time-period was applied.
However, the last time it was renewed (2006? 2007?) (which was after a
long battle with the DWP after the renewal claim was initially refused), there
was no time-period specified with the renewed award.
She cannot find the paperwork she was sent (!), but thinks the word
used was that it was being awarded 'indefinitely'.
Whatever it said, there was definitely no time period stated.
I cannot find this category on the B&W page
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/personal-indep...nt-pip/pip-timetable
So will she have to apply for PIP next month or in October 2015?

Thanks

D

Hi dk,

Yes "indefinite" is the term used where a fixed term/period does not apply to the DLA award.

If it is an indefinite award, they should not be invited to claim PIP until after October 2015.

As from 07/10/13 :

If it is a fixed term award that ends before 24/02/14, then they should be reassessed under DLA criteria.

If it is a fixed term award that ends after 24/02/14, they will be reassessed under PIP criteria.
