PIP timeline question

Wonder if anyone can give any advice on the length of time it takes to hear if a PIP application has been successful.
So far my husband has submitted his application form (thanks to the excellent guide produced by this website) and has had his assessment with the health professional, we are now waiting to find out if he is eligible for PIP or not.
Originally we were told to apply 3 months after my husbands stroke, which we did, and that the process would take 10 weeks!!!

We were then told there is a backlog!
He had his assessment 4 months after submitting his application and told again there is another backlog.
Just wondered if anyone has been successful or at least had feedback from their assessment.

Feedback from B&W and other forums would suggest that PIP claimants are suffering delays in receiving a decision after the "medical".
Some say that this may be down to the PIP mobility consultation process.
This has definitely caused a delay in the timetable for DLA to PIP transfers :
