NEW RATE OF DLA FROM RENEWAL CLAIM was created by slegne
A friend submitted a DLA renewal claim and received notification last week she would now be moved up from middle care to high care. Her former claim was due to run out on 01/11/2013. When does the new rate become effective, is it from the date of the decision or when the former claim was due to run out?

I recently renewed my DLA claim. The reduced care component award came into effect from the day after the original claim ended, not the date in May when the new decision was made.

Hi Mrs HB,

I was wrongly of the opinion that renewal claims that were not indefinite for DLA were treated as a claim for PIP from 8 August 2013.

Obviously, I'm wrong. Thanks for posting this.

Best regards.

Jim
