LETTER OF SUPPORT FROM GP was created by shrinathji
Quick question, friend has appointment to see GP for letter of support to send with ESA.

He asked if he should write phrases such as Support Group, LCWRA etc when detailing her conditions and its effects on her mobility as he did not want to cause her any problems with DWP.

Is it ok for him to write theses in the correct places.

Furthermore, the Report will not be ready in time to send with ESA but a few days later, will it be ok to send this and mention on ESA form that GPs report will be sent separately???

Thanks.
Radhika.

Hi R,

The G.P. can write what they like, there is no problem as long as they are using their own words, and are not being blatantly led by the patient.

So, "Yes" it's O.K.

Yes it should be O.K. to do this.

Don't forget, send copies, keep originals, put name, NINO and DOB on any separate pages. A covering letter may help.

Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS

Thanks Bro.

It's just that he thought that by using theses terms it may put his patient at a disadvantage. However, he did say that in his report he will also be making references to specialists reports confirming that his patient has the physical problems that are related to the S/G criteria and will be enclosing them.

Hi mods,

Friend had appointment with GP today with regards to ESA medical report and as he is going to be adding recent Specialists reports/letters with his report, he asked her should he highlight(with a highlighter) any points that needs drawing attention to, such as a recent MRI scan of the cervical spine result showing severe disc bulges and degenerate changes as he does not do these reports but has agreed to do hers due to her long standing problems that he is fully aware of. :)

If he was to do that could she cross reference this with the mobility descriptor showing that she definitely could not self propel a wheelchair.

Thanks.

Radhika.
