What if Recent Medical Evidence lacking? was created by winterchild
Now that the SDA-only cohort have started to get their ESA letters, I'm looking at the downloaded ESA50 for my sister. I see they want medical supporting documents.
What if her original primary diagnosis (perinatal brain damage) was made shortly after birth by specialists at Guys, and has never been revisited due to the irreparable nature of the damage?
The was over 55 years ago, and although I have the original letter in our archive, it's a bit thin evidence-wise! She HAS seen social security doctors in the distant past when application was made on her behalf for non-contributory invalidity pension (later replaced by SDA), and we have those documents also, but that's all.
Would a current statement from her GP stating that yes indeed, she still has cerebral palsy and learning disability, be enough?
Thanks,
winterchild

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Yes, a statement from your sister's GP would be helpful, even more so if it relates directly to the specific ESA descriptors that have to be met.
Qualifying for the WRAG
Qualifying for the Support Group
You can ask to access the GP notes to see if there is anything helpful there and you can also submit statements from people who know your sister well. Obviously, medical or para-medical personnel will hold a lot of weight but carers and family can be helpful too.
