Any Risks in asking DWP for Documents?

Hi

We are really keen to find out the SG Descriptor/s used and future reassessment date for my partners SG award from a few weeks ago but are mindful of asking.

Are there any risks associated in asking for this information?

Sending requests to the Data Controller, quoting SAR, DPA 1988, ESA85A and LT54 all sound a bit wise and I wouldn’t want it to mean an earlier review than had been planned originally by the DWP.

I wonder if a basic SAR request form is better than a letter quoting all the above or does that mean the possibility of not getting what we want.

If we send a SAR could we after ticking info on computer and clerical records for ESA and IB quote ESA85A and LT54 and ‘All other documentation used’ in the ‘Any other personal information’ box or should that be automatically included in the ESA and IB requests?

We are both such worriers and wonder if it’s best just left alone yet at the same time really want to know the information for future reviews. I am wondering if filling in and sending a form sourced from gov.uk is better than a letter quoting ESA and DWP documents we wouldn’t be expected to know.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thank you as always.

Hi p,

I can only reiterate what I posted : Here , a few weeks ago.

There is no logical reason why making such a request should have an adverse effect on your current award.

You could simply request the ESA85A and the LT54, however unless you ask the relevant questions that you seek answers to, there is no guarantee that the documents above will contain them.

I know of many, many people who have requested the documents and posed particular questions as well.

Of course, it is your choice on how to proceed. :)

Hi p,

Just to add,

It will be The DWP Data Control Section that deals with a SAR, which is a totally separate entity to the DWP ESA WCA Teams and DM's.

The way thing are, I bet the DWP Data Control Sections have had to take on extra staff.
