ESA SG Disability Premiums - only for IR? was created by damonzan
Hi,
Can you please confirm if an ESA(CB) claimant in the support group is entitled to claim the severe or enhanced disability premiums - if they are also in receipt of DLA HRC?
If they are, is it done automatically or is it another claim process?
Thanks

The ESA Premiums are only paid if the claimant is receiving Income Related ESA, however, that does not mean that you will not be entitled to receive them if you currently only receive ESA(CB).
Providing you have eligibility for ESA(IR), which will be dependant on your household income, assets and savings, and any hours that a partner works, then ESA(IR) is calculated from scratch and takes into account the premiums that may be payable, so providing the calculated ESA(IR) is more than the paid ESA(CB), then there should be entitlement.
See
ESA Premiums
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)
You should contact the DWP and ask to sent an ESA3 form.
