Hello,
I rang DWP for an application for PIP on behalf of my mum on 22/11/2013.
We received a 'How your disability affects you' form today and this needs to be in by 22nd December. I just think this is a very short deadline as I still need to collect all the evidence. Could you tell me if this sounds right? My mum does not have a mental health condition, physical only and guess we cannot ask for an extension?

I am afraid the normal period for someone without Mental Health issues is one month, it may be possible to get an extension to the period by contacting the DWP, but if you do you should ensure that it is made in writing, also, please be aware of potential posting delays over the Christmas and New Year period.

I, too, received the form a few days ago and the deadline is December 22. I only want to claim the mobility component.

Just to add, if your form is returned late then you risk your claim being closed, if you are having problems getting your evidence together you might want to consider sending it separately.
