PIP review form sent.......what now? 3 months 1 week ago #247532

I can outline what has happened to me today as I am in that' trap. Hopefully I am in the minority because if I am not, God help 44K current claimants and the uproar that will follows.

My PIP is due to expire on 20 May next. I duly filled in,submitted further medical evidence and returned the form by the due date. It got delayed in the Christmas post. Okay, so I phoned DWP and the said 'don't worry' it will get into the system eventually. It did.

By March I had heard nothing so I phoned DWP again. It was in the system and was with Independent Assessors (formerly ATOS). So, I phoned I.A. on 11 March. They said I would be having a F2F.

And then Coronovirus.

So today I phoned I.A. again only to be told my case along with another 44K cases had been recalled by the DWP for decision. They told me to ring DWP which I have just done. The conversation went like this:

Me: I realise the world has been tipped upside down but could someone please explain to me, personally, what is happening with my review case.

Him: That's right, you will not be having a F22, neither will you be having a Telephone Assessment. We will be making our decision directly.

Me: So, what happens if you decide 'Nil Points' based on no F2F or 'telephone chat'?

Him: Well, Its M.R. then.

Me: Isn't that rather discrimination against 44K people trapped in treacle?

Him: 'So what?'

Me: Rather patronising don't you think?

Him: So?

Me: I take it this call is being recorded?

Him:. Blallalabbbabbaaabbbbaba

Me: For once speechless....

Any thoughts/ideas/comments/suggestions anyone because I feel sure Nil Points is on its way...

That is horrendous behaviour, I am sorry you had to go through that.

Did you record this conversation from your end?

I have a digital recorder sat on my desk and I now routinely record calls to any company, not just DWP

I'm in a similar position except it was the movement from DLA to PIP. Forms submitted October, heard nothing more but DLA still being paid. Since I'm expecting a fight to get anything part of me is glad to be getting any money so I haven't contacted them but am nervous of suddenly getting a phone assessment. Since I submitted a lot of paperwork I'm hoping they are totally snowed under and seeing the size of my file think "stuff it, just give her the money" (leaving the office with the flying pigs and unicorns)

I support 2 people affected by this.

Person A - new claim made by phone 18/02/20, application form submitted by April 1st, telephone assessment carried out 13/05/20. Awaiting decision as assessor said she could not give a time scale.

Person B in receipt of both components PIP awarded by successful Tribunal 19/04/18 for 2 years following previous downgrading. No letter, no phone call, no review forms, money just stopped in April 2020. Client says she was told on the phone that the award was made by the court, not the DWP and they dont agree with it.
Consulted Benefits specialist at CAB who phoned DWP and got through to Case Manager in Advanced Claim Team . Apology received, award reinstated, review postponed until October. Arrears of payment going in the bank on 12/06/20.
