ESA50 received for the second time I'm confused was created by Bluebelle
Hi
Many thanks to everyone at Benefits and Work for all their help, hard work and excellent advice. I followed the ESA guides while completing my ESA50 and was delighted that about 12 months ago I was placed in the Support Group without a medical.
I have now received another ESA50 and have been asked to complete it. Please could you tell me if Atos will take into consideration the fact that I am currently in the Support Group when they are assessing this second ESA50 that I will send them, or do they just treat it like they already know nothing about my health conditions?
Some of my medical conditions have deteriorated since I last completed my first ESA50 so I am going to mention this on this ESA50.
I am just feeling a little confused i.e. have I been sent another ESA50 to complete because they want to review my case and check that I am still sick or is it the start of a completely new assessment?
Many thanks in advance for any help - this is my first time posting.

ESA is an indefinite award with regular re-assessment.
This is a full re-assessment of your claim based on how you are now, ATOS will be aware that you are currently in the SG, but will make a recommendation to the DWP based on the contents of your new ESA50, any evidence attached, and the results of a face to face assessment if they think one is required, they may write to your GP but probably won't.
If your conditions have deteriorated then it is important that you document this on the ESA50, remembering that you must describe your limitations in context to the ESA Descriptors for them to be given full weight by ATOS and the DWP Decision Maker.
The ESA Descriptors and Regulations were updated in January 2013 and it is possible that you were assessed last year using the previous versions, so it is important that you use the current guides to help you compete the ESA50.
