Justice for All, a broad campaigning coalition comprising of such agencies as Citizens Advice, Advice UK, and the Law Centres Federation warn not only of a significant shortfall in funding for voluntary sector advice agencies but also urge the government to protect legal aid for complex advice work.

Will Horwitz, of the Justice for All campaign, stated “Legal aid must continue to help with these complex legal issues, which is why we also urge Government to keep the welfare benefit amendment to the Legal Aid Bill, won in the Lords earlier this month.”

Following its scrutiny of the Legal Aid Bill the Public Accounts Committee has also questioned the cost-effectiveness of the government’s proposed cuts to legal aid.
