The Cabinet Office is running a survey for disabled people which it says is aimed understanding the barriers that disabled people face and what the government needs to do to improve their lives.

The survey asks about your life experiences as a disabled person, carer, parent or someone who has an interest in disability issues.

The questions cover issues such as accessing spaces, meeting people, loneliness, managing your care and paying for living expenses before and after COVID-19

It also includes a section on discrimination which has questions on abuse and hostility in public and online, whether you have ever reported such incidents and whether you were satisfied with the result of doing so.

There are a number of questions on how the pandemic has affected your life.

The survey is mainly tick boxes with some open questions at the end.

There is the option to save the survey and come back later.

You can, if you choose give an email address which will allow you to download a pdf copy of your response.

However, the Cabinet Office say that your data is treated as confidential and anonymous and your personal data, once analysed, is disposed of securely

The survey is open until 23 April 2021. The Cabinet office says that responses received before 13 February 2021 will inform the development of the National Strategy, while those received after this date used to inform its delivery.

Many readers will be very doubtful about the difference that completing such a survey will make, given how little notice is often taken of survey results. Others will consider that the government should be told about the reality of life as a disabled person, even if they choose not to act on that information in any meaningful way

You can access the survey here.
