Hi Bro. Thanks. I rang them on the number you gave and spoke to someone, but they said nothing was on their screen about why I was phoned, so they couldn't help.

Do you know what sort of info they know ? Would their computers tell them the renewal time for the ESA ? As then I will at least know if it has been decided. I should have asked more questions, but when they said the screen didn't have any notes and so they couldn't help, I just left it there. I am wondering if I should ring back. It is now a year since I sent my ESA back, I was so happy when I had a missed call from DWP and not ATOS, but now it seems it may not have even been related to giving me a result.

Hi B,

When a decision is made by The DWP ESA Decision Maker, it should be scanned on to your ESA file electronically, and should therefore show up "on screen" when the DWP call responder accesses your file.

The fact that there is no update regarding a decision on your ESA since returning your ESA50 would imply that a decision has no yet been made by The DWP DM.

However, as you know, nothing can be taken for granted at this time.

Once a decision is made, if you are placed into The WRAG or The SG, the recommended length of the award (The Prognosis) before reassessment should also be available "on-screen".

Are you sure that ATOS have returned your ESA file (with recommendations) to The ESA DM ?

You could check on this by contacting ATOS :

Phone : 0113 230 9175. / 0800 2888 777.

Thanks for info. Just an update. I haven't rung ATOS yet, but I will soon. But I did ring DWP again and they said all that was on their screen was the previous ESA result. When I said about the missed call they said it won't have been from them. When I said it was the DWP number and that I even rang it back to get the automated DWP voice, they said it won't have come from them. Is there any other department within the DWP that uses the same number ? As I am trying to figure out what they mean by it wasn't them, like just that dept perhaps.

Also, how does it work, do ATOS review the ESA50 and then pass it on to a DM, or do DWP pass it on to ATOS and then back again ? If a DM ever gets the ESA50 do they ever pass it back to ATOS for a medical ?

If I rang ATOS, do they have a list of all ESA50's in the backlog ?

Thanks again. Sorry for all the questions.

It strikes me that you are worrying yourself about this phone call, I think you have already done everything you can to try and track the caller down, if it was important, the DWP will write to you about it, if it is not, which seems to be the case, you have done no damage by missing it.

ATOS issue the ESA50 and receive it back, then then produce an assessment report from either the form and any evidence attached or a face to face interview, then everything is returned to the DWP where the DM gets their first look at it all.

Just to add.

If you phone ATOS they should be able to tell you what is happening with your claim, in principle it will either be waiting for initial assessment, waiting for a face to face to be arranged, or they have finished their work and the file has been returned to the DWP for a Decision.
