I wear two hearing aids, due to severe hearing loss, and asked the question. I was asked can I hear with the aids, yes I replied. The going out escorted does not apply then I was told, only applies if totally deaf.

Hi Gordon, many thanks for the information. It would seem if I qualify for anything on the mobility, it will be the standard rate. If I get that I will be happy.

Over a period of time I have been taking copies of quite a bit of evidence I have, some of which is dated, ie All work tests Examiner reports and can prove that these reports are still relevant as I can prove continuity in more recent reports in that the conditions stated I still have with some which have worsened over the years. I have taken photographs of some of the aids I use from toilet and shower aids to hearing accessories and loan forms from Equipment loan services and printed them off. Each time I see a Consultant I am requesting to be included in their letters to GP. (no charge for this) I am doing this in preparation for when the time comes to transfer in the hopes I have enough evidence for an award without f2f medical. I would advise anyone who will be transferring to PIP to do similar. It is amazing how long it takes to put together.

Hi f,

Historical medical evidence is of value, and it is good that you are preparing in advance.

It proves that you have long standing, chronic/progressive conditions. (if that is the case)

You should remember, that if/when your time comes to be transferred over to PIP, ("sometime after October 2015") you will be assessed on "How your disabilities affect you" at the actual time of The PIP Assessment.

Therefore, you would have to show that the limitations that you currently/historically suffer as a result of the proven medical conditions qualify you under the PIP descriptors as they stand at the time of the assessment.
