Another quick question (sorry). I am almost ready to make my ESA claim but I'm worried about a couple of things. On the gov website it asks for mortgage or landlord details. Currently, I live with a friend who has recently become my partner (I informed the DWP of this today) and I give him money to pay towards the mortgage for the house that he has his name on along with one of his elderly family members. So I don't really have any details with my name on or anything like that so I'm not sure what to provide?
Also, it states that I need a medical certificate. Is this a fit note or a letter from my doctor? Do I need this before I phone or can I provide it later?
And, last thing, I previously claimed as a single person and now will have to claim as a couple. Does this apply to ESA?
Thank you for all of the help,
Jodie

As you have been working prior to making a claim for ESA then you should in principle be eligible for Contribution Based ESA, this being the case then the claim would be in your name only and would not be affected by your partner.
If for any reason you are not eligible for ESA(CB) then it would have to be an Income Related ESA claim as a couple. This would be dependant on your household income, your savings and assets, and any hours that your partner works. See
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)
A medical certificate is the same as a Fit Note.

Hi again, I have a couple of quick questions regarding ESA. I have been awarded ESA (the assessment rate) from the 10th of April and it will be paid every two weeks. I have now received my SSP1 form from work and I should be eligible for ESA from the 2nd of April (the original was an estimated date), is it worth phoning them to tell them? Also, It will be paid every 2 weeks, so should I expect the first payment 2 weeks from the date of the award? Or are there specific dates they are paid across the board? And finally, I have to send my fit note and SSP1 form, which I have but need to get a hold of two recent wage slips which will take a bit longer. Should I send what I have now and then send the rest later? Thanks xx

ESA is paid two weeks in arrears so I would expect your first payment to be in the week containing the 16th, it is paid on specific days based on your NI Number, see
Benefit payment dates
I would send what you have now and the remaining information as it becomes available.
