DLA was created by Rachias
Hi there.
I'm not sure whether my question went out to you five minutes ago ! so I am sending it again.

Could you tell me please whether there is still a points system for DLA and if so what points are required for each question.

Also the person I am helping with this renewal application has received a DLA application form when according to the timetable he should have got a PIP application form. Please could you tell me if there is much difference, and will he have to complete PIP application form in the future.

Thank you for the advice. Rachias

DLA has never been a points based system! See our DLA Re-assessment guides for more information

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/dla/#dlaclaims

If they have been sent DLA renewal forms then these are what they need to complete. It is likely that their DLA award ended before the deadline for PIP transfers came into force, there is a 20 week lead time.

If they were under 65 on 8 April 2013 then at some time in the future, probably when this renewal (assuming they are successful) expires, they will be invited to claim PIP.

DLA and PIP look at many of the same areas, but the assessment criteria are very different.

Rachias, please read my post entitled " I'm a bit miffed" once it has been approved by the moderators. You might find it helpful.

From what I can see, your re-assessment was the result of a Change of Circumstances being notified to the DWP, whereas Rachias's one is due to a fixed term DLA claim ending, as such, different procedures would be involved.

Thank you for your advice. I will have a look at Kitykat's post.
I am sorry - I meant to say "Is there a descriptor and points system as there was in his ESA application in January 2013?"
Thanks for such a helpful website - Regards Rachias

DLA does not have a points system,

The claimant needs to show that they need a certain level of care (they do not need to be receiving it), on a daily basis for a care award, and for mobility that they have problems planning and following a route or that they are unable or virtually unable to walk 50m. The criteria for what constitutes care and mobility are explained in our DLA Re-assessment guides.
