Request for information risk?

Don't fancy paying much more
That depends on how much is on the computer records! Every GP and surgery differs regarding how much info has been put on the comp and when that was started. The last surgery I worked for started using the comp, at least partially, in 1989, the one before that was still 100% manual some years later. Even within the surgery, some GPs made comprehensive records, others were much more brief.
It might be worth asking to see your records, then you can decide what is worth paying for.

Back with the specialist next week as well, assessing my condition as it is now.
Went to the GP today, they want £150 for all medical records including what they call manual ones.
Computerised records are £10.
Do you think I should get just the electronic ones?

Hi JCP,
Although the cost of gaining copy of your G.P. records can vary from practice to practice, they cannot charge you £150.
There is a maximum of £50 charge per request as stated in this FAQ that I posted for you in my first post : See : Charging for medical records. and the link at the bottom of that :
www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/2635.aspx?CategoryID=68&SubCategoryID=160
You need to contact your G.P.'s Practice Manager and tell them that they cannot charge you £150, direct them to The NHS Choices link above or print it off and show it to them.
I have just only paid £50 for 10 years worth of my Hospital Records including several X-Ray, MRI, CT Scan images on a Disc as well as other tests and all resulting reports.
Your G.P. Practice are "trying it on" !!!!!

I've attended in the past, two hospitals that were part of the same trust.
While I would like my records in order to aid my claims for benefits, I'm also considering legal options due to medical neglect when I was born some 25 years ago.
I've no idea what could ever come of it, as I believe I'm too old to take up with the NHS.
Basically my parents did not want to take any action back then due to the immorality of doing so, "taking money out of the NHS" etc, with all the changes to welfare I've had a change of heart.

Hi JCP,
You would need to consult a Solicitor regarding any possibility of litigation against The NHS.
