Well my F2F is looming in a few days and received a txt message from the DWP to remind me of date,time and place and that failure to attend may affect my benefit

Are these reminder txt messages normal procedure?

Yes they are using text messaging !

No idea how they obtained your mobile number, maybe you have used it to contact them in the past or provided it previously and forgotten, so it is on your file !
