Hi everyone its been quite some time since I last posted! so I hope I am doing this correctly and replying to my topic to keep all my post together. I hope everyone is well and staying safe
It hasn't been a great time for me sadly my cancer returned just before Christmas and I needed a big operation to remove it all but fingers crossed I will get the all clear will find out t/ow. I have a couple of questions if that's ok.
Firstly I was in hospital for 10 days and I have just realised I didn't inform DWP should I have told them will this affect my benefits I have been worrying about it which isn't helping my recovery.
My second question is if someone has more than £16,000 In savings I know that they don't qualify for benefits. If they used some of the savings for daily living costs etc and this meant that they no longer had £16,000 in savings would this mean they could qualify and apply for benefits?
Thanks everyone for your help and advice

Hi Mary
Sorry to hear about your new diagnosis. Let's hope that it's not long before you have better news.
Regarding telling the DWP you were in hospital - you should have informed them, but it won't affect your money. www.gov.uk/going-to-hospital-benefits. Plenty of people forget - you can still tell them now, but don't let it stress you out.
If a person has less than 16,000 in savings they may well be able to claim benefits - but it will depend on other factors. The best thing for them to do is to use one of the benefits calculators to see what they could be entitled to. They can be used anonymously.
