Hi to all,
Just received in the post to my home address, my PIP PA Assessors 24 page report. As in regards to my PIP renewal which had taken place some weeks ago.
So now me and my family who are cares for me, we can go through the report together and fine tooth comb it. Up to now after a first glance I see untruths and discrepancies.
I now have time to rip this to pieces where applicable, and make my written request for a MR.
I just have 10 days to get this back to the DWP explaining my reasons why.
Question is I reckon the DWP will just ignore my MR and stick to their guns.
So maybe I should only just give them a brief description why I want a MR.
Then go for the appeal, then gather my info bla bla bla ready for tribunal.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

There are two ways of approaching this.
Some people put a lot of effort into the MR request, in the hope of the decision being changed (which does happen sometimes).
Other people feel that the MR is unlikely to do anything other than 'rubber stamp' the original decision and, therefore, prefer to keep the request brief, get it over as quickly as possible and save their energy for the tribunal.
Either way, don't forget that you will only be awarded the level of PIP that you hope for by showing how and why you score points against the descriptors, discrediting the report will not - in itself - get you the award.

Thxs mrs hurtyback for your response,
I just cant see what other evidence I can supply the DM as in regards to a MR and later going to appeal.
I've submitted prior to my reassessment for PIP all evidence I had i.e specialists and doctors.
my pip re-assessment was at my home. and I can only think right now at the top of my head. that surely as it was a home visit one would expect the assessor to ask me what difficulties I have around my home etc, in order to make a fuller comprehensive report on how I'm affected.
In order to show or let the DM realise the limitations I have.
example I was turned down for prepping & cooking a meal ?
prior to reassessment I wasn't I scored 8 points on daily living?
my health hasn't got better etc ?
surely the assessor should had said...... lets go into the kitchen and i'd like you to point out to me or show me the difficulties you have at this prepping of food and cooking a meal task?
but no the assessor preferred not to, but just sit comfortably on my couch hammering away at their keyboard LOL
CAN I USE THIS AS AN ARGUMENT FOR ONE OF MY FAILED DESCRIPTORS?
look forward to any advice
thanks

You will only score points by showing how and why you meet the descriptors, not by criticising the assessor.
The assessment should follow the same outline whether it is carried out in your home or an assessment centre. Claimants attending an assessment centre will not have the chance to go into the kitchen and demonstrate their problems, so I wouldn't expect that to happen in the home either.
If you have already submitted all of your evidence, point to this when making your MR submission, clearly showing how the evidence relates to the descriptor in question.

Hi thxs for your reply mrshurtyback,
I'm sorry for sounding so dumm, and stupid, but I cant somehow grasp how I can conjure up any more evidence.
all except that I feel the assessor at my pip assessment failed to direct her questions to me and ask me about difficulties I have with cooking ?
I did explain to the assessor my diffciculties/restirictions/ how it affects me physical & mental.
But in the assessors report. the assessor writes he can use 1 flight of stairs, 4 times a week & get into his mothers car. who drives him to the family home which is 4 minutes away. in order for him to eat his main meal which his mother has prepared and cooked for him.
so the assessor goes on to say because I can use my stairs only 1 in say 1.5 days (go up and down it once in 36 hrs) and get into his mother car, which is 4 metres from outside my door.
means the claimant mrfibro to have good bodily function, therefore his able to prep and cook meals?
means I'm capable of preparing and cooking a meal?
I honestly find this hard to believe that this has anything to do with the descriptor.
so am I right to say then,,, if I was attempting to prep and cook a meal and due to heavy medications I had a dizzy spell. and I was say carrying a heavy pot full of boiling water. and I fell coz of the dizzy spell.
and the boiling pot fell on me, scolded me ,burnt me etc. or someone else in my home.
then that's ok because I can walk only once in 1.5 day to go to my mothers car 4 metres away.
i'm sorry I failing to comprehend the assessor judging me.
i'm hoping for some guidance help/support on how to contradict the assessor to show he/she had made an error, or he/she failed to take whatever into account.
i don't know what else i can do ?
the assessor has copied and pasted this statement in other parts of the pip pa4 report too. assessor claimed i wasn't in any pain ?
can the assessor feel my pain ?
assessor states i walked 16 metres to the toilette?
my toilette is 5 metres walk to get there?
the list goes on.

It's not always a question of providing more evidence, even if you use dour guides it can sometimes be a case of making sure that you have explained your self fully and shown that you met the criteria.
Taking your example of Preparing food.
Have you explained what aspects of your medication cause you to have dizzy spells? Is this a symptom that is normal for those drugs? Even if it isn't could it be the result of a combination of drugs? How often are you dizzy? How long does each episode last for? Are there particular times of the day when you are affected? How often have you had an accident when dizzy, have you fallen? if you hurt yourself was this treated at your GP or hospital? Does activity exacerbate the problem? If you broke down the components of preparing and cooking a meal, where would you have problems? If you received supervision or assistance would this help you prepare a meal, if not why not? Can aids help you? If not why not?
Have a look at the PIP Claim guide for more information.
