How long for returned ESA50 to show on system?

Hi there

My ESA50 was delivered on Friday, 9th December - the deadline day. I have a tracking record that it was delivered.

I called up today, Monday 12 December, and the call handler did not yet have any record of it having arrived. Should I be concerned?

I imagine it takes at least a few days to be put on the system - can anyone advise when I should next call up to check?

I added 50 pages of additional evidence, would that slow down the time it would take to show up on the system?

Also, how does the DWP know that my form arrived within deadline? Is it date stamped when delivered?

Thanks.

Alison :-)

I would call daily if you can afford to do so.

The date that the form was received should be recorded.

Hi Alison,

It can take some time for the paperwork to be entered onto the computer, up to a couple of weeks I believe.

I don't know how DWP indicate that it arrived in time but I have not heard of members having problems with regards to this.

Thanks, folks. :-D . . . although in response to Gordon's comment - I think calling the helpline was free? I call the 0345 number. Eekk!

I'm afraid 0345 numbers are not free, they are just not premium numbers.

Hi again :-)

Sorry, I've read the responses again, and I'm slightly confused.

So, the DWP at the 0345 number can feasibly take up to a few weeks to even confirm to me that my ESA50 has arrived at their mail sorting office - even though I already have proof of delivery?

Also, will the DWP send out a letter after the deadline if it does not believe it has received the form, asking for "good cause", or does it just suspend our benefits without telling us?

I had assumed my worry over whether they had received my form would have left me the moment I saw the RM tracker that my ESA50 had been delivered! The thought of potentially waiting another few weeks . . . argghh.
