The first thing you need to do is think about how you qualify for the SG, the criteria is very specific. If you are hoping to do so through the Substantial Risk regulations then you need to be aware that the DWP guidance for this has changed since you were last assessed and it is no much more difficult to qualify through this route. One thing you will certainly need is up to date evidence, unlike the SG Descriptors there is no assumption of on-going disability and you need to prove your case each time.

Have a look at our ESA Claim guides, the mental health one has the more detailed explanation, there are sections that cover qualifying for the SG.

The PIP ESA Appeal guide has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and the Submissions guide has a complete example that you can use to help you fill it in, you do not need to provide detailed reasons at this stage for your request.

Once your appeal is accepted the DWP will prepare their submission to the hearing and send you a copy, whilst you should wait until you receive this to finish and submit your own, you should start to prepare your own case, an increased award will only be made by your showing that you score the extra points for one, so I would start by going back through your PIP2 ESA50, the assessment report and the PIP ESA Claim guides to see how you might show this is the case.
