PIP Decision was created by LadyLuna
Just phoned to check my letter had arrived. I have not managed to get the extra point on DL, but got awarded Standard Daily Living and Enhanced Mobility til May 2020. Now I was all a bit excited til I realised I will be re-assessed next May - exactly when the assessor said.

Now my first award I got a decision in May 2017 and it runs out in May 2019. My re-assessment was May 2018, but was held up a bit because of moving. So is this a 2 year award or a 20 month award? Not seen the decision letter yet.

I am pleased obviously, and its a weight off my mind, but a little upset my letter counted for nothing. They are effectively telling me I don't have a problem dealing with new people.

Anyhow, Thank you so much to B&W and Gordon for all your help.

You need to wait for the Decision Letter, it will tell you when you are going to be reassessed, If it is a 20-month award then I would expect you to have to re-apply in 2020 rather than be reviewed in 2019.

Yes thank you I will. I suspect it's the 20 month award but either way none of mine or my partners evidence was considered. I wasn't given the extra point for enhanced daily living.

You can challenge the Decision if you are unhappy with it but it is unlikely to be a case of scoring one extra point, it is far more likely that you will need two and this will mean either scoring higher in an activity you have scored for or scoring in one that you have not.

I have just rang the DWP again and the guy read the letter out. It is a fixed term award til 2nd May 2020.

He made a suggestion of asking for an MR to look at the length of the award but couldn't guarantee I wouldn't lose the benefit at MR.

I am upset about it.

What can you advise please? Would it be better to just leave it til I have to re-apply and hope for the best?

I feel very cheated by a man from Capita who had his own nasty agenda. I will be reporting him in writing with regards refusing to allow me to record the interview and then saying that he wasn't supposed to but will allow it to be recorded.

You can't really make any decision until you have the Decision Letter and you have an understanding of whether it will be reassessed in 2019 or you will have to renew it in 2020 but ultimately only you can make the decision about what you want to do.

As I said in a previous post, you need to also consider how you might score the extra points you need for a higher award.
