Greta

I would expect 5-8 weeks on average but it can be longer.

Thank you. So just have to sit and wait! I would have thought there must be a maximum timescale for decision.
Thankfuly SiL is still getting her PIP but nowhere near covers all outgoings.

Hi GretaM

Did you keep a copy of the original MR, and did you get proof of posting or recorded delivery when you sent the MR off?

Yes, we kept copies of everything and sent recorded delivery, had proof that it was signed for. DWP have been quite up front that it is their error.
It was only after we sent a letter to them querying the timescale that we then got the phone call from them to say MR form etc had gone astray. They said they would send out a special envelope for us to resend all info, however they have now sent that to SiL address ( a 2 hr drive) instead of ours. They get this wrong everytime and it just creates additional inconvience as SiL cannot read or write.

Hi

I have a success to report :)

We have had a letter from the Job Centre today to say that SiL’s ESA (limited capability to work) has been re-awarded including back payments to March. Needless to say we are all very relieved. It has taken 17 weeks for the Mandatory Reconsideration process which includes 4 or 5 weeks where DWP lost original E50 and evidence.

We have not received any information from the DWP so do not know as yet what points have been awarded for descriptors. Do they send this out automatically? If not what is the best way of requesting this?

Many many thanks for your advice and support on this. This website and forum is such a valuable resource.

Best wishes
Greta
