How do you find out which DWP office dealt with your claim as they are all sent to post handling centres? Thanks. I often see contact the office that dealt with your claim being mentioned.

Further to my son receiving his pip assessment report that contained inaccuracies he couldn’t cope with challenging it within the short window of opportunity so decided to wait for the decision letter. He has been awarded enhanced mobility and care! BUT because of his mental health and extreme paranoia he feels he has to write and correct the misquotes and inaccuracies in the Health Professionals report. He says that because he knows about them he has to correct them. Please can you advise on the best way to do this. I think there are 2 options: we write a letter to highlight the points that were inaccurate - the concern with this option is that he may not get a reply. The other option is to request a mandatory reconsideration as then he will get a response but then he may lose his award as they will look at it all again. Any thoughts please?

Thank you very much for your reply - I didn’t realise that he cannot request a mandatory reconsideration as he’s been awarded enhanced for both mobility and care.

The problem is that he doesn’t agree with the decision that he cannot SAFELY follow the route of a familiar journey 1f (which gave him12 points). He also got 4 points for moving around. He told the Health professional that he made 3 journeys a week on his electric bike to a familiar place and she records this in her consultation report. I think it’s possible the reason the HP and the decision maker have made this choice of descriptor (1f) is, because of his complex vision difficulties, he trips on kerbs and bumps into people and things like bollards. Also evidence submitted with the application suggested that it was not safe for him to cycle as he can no longer drive safely. There is an upper tribunal decision that I have looked at that seems to apply to my son and maybe the reason for their decision CPIP/1998/2017 KS v SSWP (PIP) UKUT 456 (AAC) It focuses on the claimant being unable to SAFELY “follow the route of a familiar journey without another person ...” However my son’s anxiety and paranoia due to mental health conditions means that he’s now thinking this will mean that if he’s seen (or he thinks captured on a surveillance camera) on his own on his electric bike this will be reported to the DWP. Any thoughts please? My view is that I support him to write a letter to say that his recollection of what he said at the medical assessment differs to some of the information on the consultation report and he’d like his corrections to be included on his file. I’d be very grateful for your advice please!
