Uating UC on changes and awaiting outcome of PIP was created by Amis
Dear Benefits & Work
I sent a post on Sunday and Steve (tech expert) confirmed it wasn't waiting moderation and so I am re- posting. I hope this one makes it through.
I have UC with LCW following a MR since June 2019 (backdated to Feb 2019, when it was stopped).. At that time I'd been assessed by IAPT (via my GP) and they had referred me for a formal psychiatric diagnosis, for onward referral to Secondary Mental health services for long term therapy.
In September, the referral was rejected, as the specialist team said they "do not offer long term therapy for relational issues". And "if someone has had a lot of therapy previously, it is worth considering that it may not be the answer. Consider signposting to other mental health support organisations".
Being written off in this way has knocked me caused a significant decline in my MH.I couldn't deal with it at all for 2 months.
My support worker has suggested I tell UC this updated information, and that I should probably be in the support group.
The only "work related activity" that was suggested in the MR was that I had some routine encouraged by maybe going to the library etc. But no-one has ever contacted me to formalise this - so in effect, I've been left to my own devices and am essentially in the support group, but not formally. Do you have any advice re how I should tell UC please, and what.
Would I have to have another assessment to go into the SG?
If they were to move me, what date would that kick in from? I started on ESA in August 2018, that stopped mid-Feb. Then after UC MR, I was paid UC from mid Feb to date. The rejection letter was mid September. Would it only start from the date of moving to SG (IF that happened)?
In the meantime, I just had a PIP assessment (I couldn't cope with applying for PIP at same time as ESA/UC). Although I didn't include the outcome re the rejection letter in my original PIP application, I took this info with me to the assessment.
Should I await the outcome of PIP before contacting UC? Would receiving PIP automatically affect my UC category e.g. if I received it on standard rate, or the higher rate?
Sorry for so many questions.
I would be very grateful for information.
Kind regards
Amis
