Carer for a long-term ME/CFS sufferer
Replied by alisp on topic PIP rejected because of home medical assessment
Izzy, that sounds pretty solid to me (my caree started freaking out at having to repeat herself that much and couldn't cope with reading it through, which may have cost us, I think). My only thoughts are a) whether you've explained the PEM adequately (in particular emphasising just how minute any "exertion" has to be to cause problems) and b) that as far as I'm aware (and I hope the Moderators will correct me if I'm wrong) I think the DWP would only expect you to be preparing a hot meal once a day, so if you can't do it "repeatedly" you might have to explain more what would prevent you from doing it "again" 24 hours after the first time you "didn't" do it, if you see what I mean!

Hi All,
I just wanted to say thank you for all the advice you have given.
I am replying on behalf of my wife.
Unfortunately due to the stress since receiving her decision and the subsequent worry trying to get something correct written for the MR she has has not been sleeping well, this in turn has causes a 'crash' and a 'flare up' in her ME.
She is currently unavailable to respond to your advice because of this, but she wanted me to say thank you to you all.
She managed to get hold of our local benefits advice centre, and although they are full and cannot help with the MR at the moment. They have advised her that due to the stress it is causing her and fact that it is highly unlikely to get the decision changed at this stage, that a simple letter that goes into not too much detail will be best. To just something sent off as soon as possible and then they will help when it comes to the appeal stage with all the in-depth details.
Thanks again
Paul & izzy

Hi Paul
Sorry ET's ME is flaring up. Only the two of you can decide what is best in how to proceed at this point.
