Not to put a dampner on your thoughts but I was of the same mind set as yourself and on receiving a copy of my assessment report there were many discrepancies and untruths.

I finally received my assessment report today & am actually quite frustrated by it- looking at it - it looks like I will get standard care & completely lose my mobility element- the frustrating thing is the amount of absolute rot written in the f2f report. I actually wonder who the report is about- almost every section says the same thing in the report- so clearly copied & pasted. it states that as I got to the assessment that I don't suffer any anxiety to getting around- it fails to acknowledge I was accompanied by my adult child who drove me there & despite my explanation that I sat outside for almost 15 minutes to compose myself as I was in a state of despair!! he has written that I pass the time by reading??? never mentioned & I intereact with friends & family- I am a suicide risk- this is reported on my medical files & my daughter puts my medication into a daily pill box to ensure I don't take them all- but apparently I am fully able to take my medication. honestly its laughable. does the decision purely go on this f2f assessment or is it possible that the decision maker will look at the report submitted as well?

Hi Mass

There is a small window for you to write to the Decision Maker but you will need to be quick.

Understand that the assessor is offering an opinion when they say that you can do the PIP activities, tackling these head-on is unlikely to be successful, you need to show that the basis of that opinion is founded on incorrect information, so try and refer to your evidence to undermine what they have said.

Also, try and stick to issues that lead to your scoring points, I often hear members referring to the assessors spelling, as an example, whilst it may show a lack of professionalism, raising it as an issue isn't going to help you get an award.

Lastly, make sure that you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against you can put the best case forward that is possible but you won't score points if you do not meet the PIP Descriptors.

Gary

Make sure that your letter makes it clear that you are not requesting a Mandatory Reconsideration but you reserve the right to do so once a Decision has been made.

As it has been nearly 6 weeks to receive the report I feel I may have missed the window to get the letter in & will have to go to the mandatory form- a quick question on your 'help guides' it says to do the online form- now do I break down the medical assessors report on this and write it as if im writing an appeal? im finding it hard to work out what exactly to do.
If it did go to appeal would I not be just repeating myself. also it says to break down each descriptor some I am happy with so should I just list them individually?
for example the medical professional stated that I recalled all my medication perfectly names & dosages & this shows that I have good cognitive ability- but this simply didn't happen- they asked about medication I couldn't remember them, she said that's ok I have them all here.
as regards to my mental health stated that I was on a low dose of anti-depressant- I am actually on the highest amount allowed for someone with a heart condition- so not sure how or if I should point that out too.
it really is hard to grasp what to query without overdoing it.
mobility stated that because I walked 5 metres- but was clearly in pain & had to stop frequently - that I could do 50m-200m my own medical professional has stated on supporting documents 20m-50m - they walk to the assessment room exhausted me & hurt so much that I went home & slept. but how do you show that?
sorry for the long post but am really confused by it all- cant sleep am being physically sick from the stress.

Hi Mass

My suggestion to you is that you try not to over think it. You say that you don't know how to show that you were exhausted after the assessment - but you just say it as you have done so here.

You can say that you were incorrect when you originally stated about your medication and if the assessor made a 'mistake' you just say so. I can't tell you exactly how to answer - this is something you will have to decide for yourself.

Try not to think about an appeal. You want to make your MR as thorough as possible so you don't have to go for an appeal. What you need to focus on is where you didn't score points and you think you should have done. You have to highlight the evidence you have which contradicts what the assessor said in their report.

You are not alone in feeling perplexed at the report that has been written about you many of us on the forum report similar or identical outcomes following a F2F . I was awarded standard on both accounts mobility and care. Based on the fact that it was awarded for ongoing I decided to not proceed to the MR stage as they would look at the whole award again and in my opinion leaving me alone hopefully for 10 years made the decision for me. If you feel strongly that you meet the descriptors for the extra points and you are awarded a short time period before review then you have to weigh up all the risks. Good luck
