Hi MariW

Providing that it is just you and your mother who live at home and that your mother is now in receipt of Attendance Allowance (AA) then you will be able to claim SDP from the date your mother was awarded AA.

Your mother may also be entitled to claim Pension Credit as she would also be eligible to claim a SDP, it would depend on your mothers income such as SP occ/private pensions. She could contact Age uk www.ageuk.org.uk for a benefits check.

You can check by putting your information into one of the online benefit calculators.

My names Helen and thank you so much for your post.
I've been tearing my hair out trying to find out if AA's a "qualifying benefit" and the closest I could get was constant AA.
Just for your information, in the DMG it does say being a co-owner also makes you eligible but ownership must predate occupation, although you must check this for yourself.
Again- thank you for your post and even more thanks for the reply
