Thank you Gary
So the housing benefit entitlement does not
over- ride the new rulings for mixed aged couples? This was my original question. The information on the government website does not clarify this.
Thank you.

You need to understand that Gov UK is not a definitive source of information, it may be that the Pension Credit page was correct at the time it was published but that does not mean that it is now.

Hello Again Folks...

Just going to write EXACTLY what it says in my letter titled.... Get My State Pension::::

You do not have to do anything. You will not get any State Pension until you claim it.You may get extra money if you put off claiming yourState Pension...

THEN:::

You normally need to put off claiming by at least 9 weeks to get extra State Pension. You only need to tell us you are delaying your claim if you recieve benefits...

So, where does that leave me, as my Wife is claiming ESA ( I.R. and Support Group ) for both of us, and it has been awarded for the next FIVE Years, which they already know obviously. What do I need to tell them.......

Is it compulsory that you HAVE to apply for State Pension.....

Any more advice please would be great.....

Thanks....

You do not need to take your State Pension but the DWP will assume that you have and will deduct what is known as Notional Income from any Income Related ESA that she receives.

Thanks Gordon

So, basically, are you saying I HAVE to apply to for my State Pension, because if I don't the DWP will deduct a " Notional Income ( Never heard of that before ) " from her ESA, even if I don't make a claim for it. Even though she is entitled to her current award ESA for another 5 Years at the current rate for both of us, which we had in writing AFTER my Pension letter......

This is SO confusing I must admit...
