Missing Descriptors? was created by TF
Does anyone know if the descriptors have changed for Planning and following journeys? On the original PIP form I had ticked that I need help getting somewhere I don't know well, In fact it would be impossible for me to go alone and told the HP this yet on the award letter it just shows Planning and following a journey 0 points? I have had a mandatory reconsideration and my award didn't change so I am going for a tribunal and have just noticed this?
Thanks

Hi TF
No the descriptors have not changed. Did you explain the need to be accompanied and did the assessor mention it in your assessment report? You obviously need to challenge it.

Yes I told the HP I could not go anywhere unfamiliar alone and the decision notice just says "It considers whether undertaking such a journey would cause overwhelming psychological distress with symptoms so severe it would leave you unable to function. There is no evidence to suggest you could not complete this activity" So therefore for mobility it just shows You can plan and follow a route of a journey unaided - 0 points

To score for the Going Out activity the reason that you are unable to follow a route must be because you have sensory problems, cognitive problems or because you would suffer "overwhelming psychological distress".
You don't mention any sensory or cognitive issues and whilst you have said that you cannot follow a route you have not suggested that this is because you would have OPD.

Thanks. I have multiple sclerosis and a lot of situations cause me stress which makes my pain and fatigue worse. Just curious as to why this descriptor doesn't count?
d. Cannot follow the route of an unfamiliar journey without another person, assistance dog or orientation aid. 10 points.
