Ok so that descriptor is pointless then? PIP seems to be geared towards mental health more than any other illness and definitely not M.S.

Many with mental health issues say the opposite.
The Descriptors are what they are, you need to look at how you can explain your limitations to fit them, if you can't then I'm afraid you aren't going to score the points.

Have you supplied medical evidence supporting the claim that you fit this criteria? As a fellow ms warrior I found its no use saying something if you dont have the evidence to back it up, it will be disregarded.

d. Cannot follow the route of an unfamiliar journey without another person, assistance dog or orientation aid. 10 points.

Hi Probably not no
I currently have been awarded standard care for both daily living and mobility so have therefore lost my mobility car after being on DLA for 20 years. I never had any care component of DLA so can't complain now. Not sure whether it's worth going to appeal as I am finding it all very stressful.

Apologies if you know all of this already but I will add it anyway. I had a Motability car and although I was due to lose it after transfer from DLA to PIP, my welfare benefits advisor was adamant I should be getting Enhanced Mobility so I am currently going through MR with DWP. However, due to my ms progression it became apparent I'm no longer safe to drive anyway and so I have returned the vehicle within Motabilitys 3 month timescale and received a cheque from them to help towards the cost of a used car should I wish to stay on the road. If you have scored enough points on your mobility award you are entitled to a free bus pass and also a blue badge so you can still go out in other cars and benefit from the badge. I also find using a walker/rollator better than a stick as it gives me more balance and I can sit on it to rest when I need it. My ms nurse is also arranging an appointment with OT for a walking assessment and possible wheelchair referral.
I just wanted to reassure you that there are still ways of getting around without a car, even though I understand how cruel it feels that DWP can just take it away.
