ESA auto payments was created by Billis
Have been receiving regular fortnightly payments of ESA directly into my bank account without any issues then suddenly a payment didn't arrive, contacted DWP and after questions and checking they made a one off payment suggesting that there must be a glitch in the system however the same thing happened again with the next due payment. Rang them again with same result, one off payment and suggested I ring 2 days before my next payment due date to check it had been processed for payment. Rang as requested to be told that it hadn't processed for payment so made another one off payment suggesting I ring again 2 days before the nest due date. I asked if anything could be done to sort it out as it is taking up to 45mins every time I ring, hanging on waiting for an advisor and getting it put right. They suggested I ring at 8am as the queue time is shorter! Has anyone else had this issue and how was it resolved? There must be something they can do surely?

MR H

We do occasionally hear from members that their payments have not been processed, most often there has been an error on their computer record which has prevented it being picked up on the pay run.

These errors should be corrected when the DWP is contacted by the claimant so it is extremely unusual for a second run not to process their ESA a second time.

I would contact them again, I would not wait for the next ESA unless it is close and ask what the error is and whether it has been corrected and if not, why?

Thank you for your reply Gordon. I agree, for it to happen once is acceptable but it's 3 times in a row now. I was surprised that on the 2nd or 3rd occasion the DWP agent didn't say that they would take the matter up with the office dealing with the pay run, instead they just suggested I ring back 2 days before the next due payment? I was thinking of putting the details\timeline in a letter asking for the matter to be resolved however, I wondered if the letter would be read and passed onto the office dealing, in a reasonable time.

Hi MRH

We had the same, but there was a change in circumstances & they said that was the reason why. They said that they would pay it into the account within a few days unless we wanted it paying in that day, of course we did! This happened again a few weeks later, they said that it was a glitch on the system & to ring up 2 days before next payment is due. I didn't bother ringing as I thought if I did call 2 days before, I'd probably have to ring again on the day. But it happened again. I do ring at 8 & once I've got through all the click 1 for .... it usually takes about 20 minutes in all. In my case I'm thinking that due to a change in circumstances they stop the payment & only pay you when you call them,. God forbid should they make a mistake & pay you too much, but it works both ways I suppose & I'd hate to be overpaid. We shall see what happens next time a payment is due.

The DWP is currently quoting nine days for a letter to get to its destination.

Hi
We have had the same issue over the last six weeks.
we are still get income support , I have recently moved from DLA to pip. There were some changes made to our IS award as a result. However our iS payments just stopped, 3 times we had to call them so they could manually send what was due. Meanwhile we were literally bombarded with numerous letters from DWP notifiying the various changes taking place. Fingers crossed now next payment will generate with no problems.
