Pip Assessment report incorrect Help needed was created by Badback51
Hi All
I would like some advice please
I applied for pip in November 2019 had a phone assessment last week this is the 1st I've ever applied for pip wasnt on dla before.
my question is I received a copy of the assessment report and alot of information was incorrect
eg assessment states has good grip and uses a wheeled walker
this is incorrect I use a wheelchair and I am pushed by a family member and I dont have good grip and I have provided medical evidence for this.
assessment report is able to wash face and can dress lower body.
again incorrect
I have carers who wash and dress me and I am unable to wash myself or dress myself
the report is full on incorrect information and the assessor report recommends an award for 1 year at enhanced daily and enhanced mobility whilst I am happy to be given any award I'm not happy at the incorrect information in the report saying I have no cognitive issues (I do I have a brain injury and this has caused a major impact on me with memory loss etc) I'm also on medication for anxiety depression panic attacks and I suffer with agoraphobia and none of this was notes even though I provided medical evidence eg medication I'm on I also do cbt and letter from my therapist and my gp.
do I wait for an award letter or contact the dwp and give the correct information again and also the length of the award been 1 year however I've applied in November last year and still not had a final decision does this mean I will have to go through all this again?
things I should have been awarded for points I've not and it's been very stressful this whole experience and I cant face it again in another couple of months.
the reason the assessor say 1 year is because I'm on diease modifying drugs take steroids and my medication has been increased and I have a physio who comes out and I'm also doing rehabilitation aswell as my gp and all the specialist.
even though my specialist and OT have written reports to say they dont know if the rehabilitation will work or to what level it will work.
sorry for going on I'm just new to all this and not sure what is best to do any advise would be great
Thank you in advance
xx

Hi Badback51
You have a very short window of time, to write to the Decision Maker, before the decision is made. Do so now. The address is the one you will find on the original letter sent to you.
Do challenge the length of the award. Obviously you will want to correct the errors, but put your greatest focus on the areas where you didn't score points where you think you should have done.

Hi Bis
Thank you so much for your reply
I will put this in writing to the decision maker.I believe that 1 year is not long enough as I'm still going through rehabilitation and have been like this for a number of years now.
I will also correct the errors I was awarded 13 points for daily living and 12 for mobility although I am happy with this it only took my physical conditions into account and not my mental health.I dont want to get at the assessor in anyway just want the information to be correct.
I just wanted to ask aswell could the whole award be taken off of me ? if I question the points even though I have been given enhanced rate for both which is great it still doesnt take in to account the full level of my disabilities.
Thank you once again

Hi Badback51
There is always a risk of loosing an award when you ask for it to be looked at again. What you may want to do is point out where you believe they went wrong and also the length of time it was awarded, so it is on record but not for them to look at it again.
To be honest at this moment in time they are very busy with what is going on around them.

Hi Gary
Thank you very much for your response I will definitely do that because I dont want to lose the award and then at least it is on record.I honestly do believe 1 year is too short as I cant even walk I use a wheelchair and have so many difficulties with my day to day living and mobility.
Thank you again.
I would like say thankyou to you guys you all do an amazing job it was my 1st time applying and I used your guides which was so helpful.

Hi Badback51
Congratulations on the award, you did well to be awarded enhanced for both components. Your award one one year maybe because you stated that 'I'm still going through rehabilitation' therefore through their eyes you may get better at the end of the rehabilitation. When you complete these forms or at an assessment you have to be careful on the language you use.
