DWP Phone Call Before Tribunal - PIP

Hi Wockle, I just want to send you massive sympathy for being subjected to such a horrific travesty. It may be cold comfort, I don't know where they get these so called disability specialists from. The one who was at our daughter's last Tribunal spent ages trying to convince our daughter to cook a piece of fish in the microwave [instead of the ready meals she is totally reliant on due to her physical issues] ! I am not making it up! We didn't have the disability bod at her first Tribunal as she got stuck in traffic and we agreed to go ahead with just the judge and doctor, and won Enhanced x 2 very quickly.
I really do hope your ongoing medical issues get proper attention despite covid.

BIS - Thanks for understanding. I just wanted to document an outline of what happened so others can see it's not always plain sailing but I will say again I do NOT regret doing it. As rubbish as it was, I would have regretted not trying.

denby - Thanks ever so much for the kind words. Oddly enough I read an account of someone else not having the "specialist" all the way through their assessment (something happened where they had to leave and it carried on), they said the whole tone of the hearing changed, everyone was more relaxed and they got the award they feel they deserved. Makes you wonder...but I do think this guy had made up his mind before I'd picked up my phone tbh.

In very very stark contrast I have recently been an appointee for my son to change from DLA to PIP. You wouldn't think we'd claimed the same thing. I'll make a post, I'm honestly stunned.

Thanks Wockle, you're welcome. It is interesting indeed about that other hearing. I am something called an Expert by Experience for a local NHS body, and we are put through decent training about how to conduct yourself in eg board meetings where we may be called upon to attend to represent patient voice. I wonder whether the Tribunals don't do this for the 'disability reps' and so some are total loose cannons. It would explain professionals being tense! Anyone out there know more about who the disability reps are and how recruited?
