I think I will leave it till I hear the result, don’t want to read what she wrote unless I have to. Think she said it would take 8 weeks, so will put it out of my mind, or at least try and think about what next when I have received the decision.

Hi Graham, Like BIS I am so glad to hear you're OK and not going to let the bad experience scar you totally permanently. I burst into tears talking to some official woman on the phone the other day after she had told me they could not give us any help at home after my husband's nearly losing his leg recently and my mobility problems. That didn't surprise me, but then she had the gall to wish me a "nice rest of the day" at the end of the call. Some of these people need an empathy transplant.
I know how it hurts not to be able to keep your place nice, but if you can't stand without agony it isn't your fault. I'm in the same boat, can't vacuum or do any other housework for more than a minute or two, so all energy goes on essentials-eating, get dishes clean to use again, wash enough clothes to wear. Maybe one day you will be able to get some help or even hire a little if you do get an award. I think you're totally doing the right thing for you and it means you're the one in control again, by waiting for the decision before you try to decide what next. Very best wishes, Denby

The text says within 8 weeks, is there an average time it takes to get the letter?

Hi Graham
Sorry - there is no average time for receiving the letter - they come where they come. Stick with the eight weeks and if it comes any earlier, it will be a relief to you.

I have a pending payment into my bank account of £1297.10, my original phone call to apply was 30th July 2020, I assume that I have been awarded a standard rate on Living and Mobility. Was initially upset as it means I won’t be able to get a car to get out of the house, but that is selfish and I am grateful, especially for the help and just being nice to me.
When I originally phoned they asked about the car scheme and would I want to join that I said yes, they said I could come off of it just need to tell them. I assume as it’s the standard rate that doesn’t apply and so I don’t have to tell them anything.
Thank you again so much to everyone.

Hi Graham
I am glad to hear that you have been awarded something, even though it appears it is not what you were hoping for. Just wait until you get confirmation from the decision letter to see whether your assumptions are correct. You don't have to do anything about the car scheme.
