My award is due to end 2nd Feb. I asked to reapply a few weeks ago. Can I now “cancel” this application and let the award run until it finished and then reapply at the end of January??

That way I get the full award until Feb, I realise there will be a gap in my award but I would rather have that then have the last 3 months paid at a far lower rate if I don’t go to tribunal this time.

Thanks again for your help

A renewal is going to take at least 13 weeks and more likely 16 or more that means that it is extremely unlikely that a Decision will be made before 2 February of next year.

If you have already started the renewal then you are committed to it, trying to stop the process will simply result in your current award being terminated early.

If you have not started the process then you really need to start it, I think you are already looking at a period of without any payments and that is not considering any further delays that Xmas and the New Year will add to the process.

So if I’m assessed before Feb 2nd the new award starts at the assessment date but if I’m assessed after Feb 2nd it will start from Feb 2nd? Have I understood that right?

No, it is the Decision date not the date of your assessment.

So, if a Decision is made before 2 February then it will be that Decision date which is used for the start of the new award and if the Decision is made after the 2nd then your new award should start on the 3rd, providing you have started the renewal process before then otherwise it will be the date that you contact the DWP to start the new claim.
