Many thanks for your replies. We have received the PA4 and need to digest this. But we requested the review in March 21 and he turned 66 in May so hopefully this will be okay as his health has deteriorated co9nsiderably since Oct 2018. But due to recovering from the operation during covid we could not face the review. Thank you again

Hi
We have now had the opportunity to read the PA4! The Assessor has missed quite a bit out from the report we have drafted a letter to the Decision Maker and posted off today.
We did make a recording of the call which we have gone through and made a copy. At some point I will type up.
There were a few things which others might find useful.
If you are in your familiar surroundings and comfortable as possible seems to go against you in the fact that you can answer these questions.
My husband mentioned that he goes on Youtube and was asked is this on Mobile, Tablet and Laptop my husband said yes. When in fact he only uses the tablet on a stand but he didn't mention the stand and was not asked. All through the daily living activities report the Assessor has used this statement
He is able to watch youtube on his phone, laptop or tablet suggesting adequate grip and functional dexterity to be able to do this activity -with an aid. My husband has diagnosed Parasthesia (numbness and tingling and reduced grip and hand spasm/cramps which distort his fingers) due to a trapped nerve which spinal surgery has not helped we also have confirmation from specialist surgeon about this.
They have also suggested a review in 18 months but ticked yes for It is likely that the restrictions identified in this report will be present at recommend point of review. So we are a bit confused by that statement. They seem to have got the mobility issues correct judging by the PA4 - so will have to wait for the DM report. Many thanks for all the guides and input from all on here. It is an exhausting process and extremely stressful to think we will have to go through this again in 18 months

Hi Lynno
There is a small window for you to write to the Decision Maker but you will need to be quick.
Now you have the assessment report you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker has come to their conclusions and you will now be able to argue against them.
I usually use a highlighter to highlight any inaccuracies, once you have gone through the report you then set out why you are applying for a MR and go through each descriptor one at a time why you disagree with the assessor and try and match it with any supporting documents you may have sent in.
Understand that the assessor is offering an opinion when they say that you can do the PIP activities, tackling these head-on is unlikely to be successful, you need to show that the basis of that opinion is founded on incorrect information, so try and refer to your evidence to undermine what they have said.
Also, try and stick to issues that lead to your scoring points, I often hear members referring to the assessors spelling, as an example, whilst it may show a lack of professionalism, raising it as an issue isn't going to help you get an award.
Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;
Lastly, make sure that you understand the criteria that you are being assessed against you can put the best case forward that is possible but you won't score points if you do not meet the PIP Descriptors.
Make sure that your letter makes it clear that you are not requesting a Mandatory Reconsideration but you reserve the right to do so once a Decision has been made.

Hi Lynno, and well done for getting your letter to the DM off on Monday. As I have posted on other threads, I believe short awards is a tactic by DWP [and after all the assessors won't want to bite the hand that feeds them will they].
I hope my post linking to a Parliamentary Petition about the very subject of stopping reviews for people with lifelong illnesses will be approved, so signing this is something we can all do. If it gets over 100,000 signatures at least Parliament will have to debate it.
Best wishes,
Denby

Hello
We checked that the letter to the DM had been received and linked to my Husbands file.
Today we received the letter to say We now have the information to make a decision:)
So feel we are on the final countdown. Review requested 25 March Telephone Assessment date was 2 Sept - not sure how much longer but the end is in sight (I think)
