Hi, I get pips full mobility and standard daily living allowance my husband has applied for and been entitled to state pension since 14 March... At the moment, he is still working 18 hours a week ...his wage and state pension may mean he will no longer get UC. I am in the no need to look for work group because if health ...am I able to claim UC for myself ? We can't seem to get answers anywhere ...my husband also has a private pension which he can take as lump sum in parts or a lifelong thing ?????? Please can anyone help / advise
Yes you can claim for UC in your own name, but if you are already receiving UC then you will not have to make a new claim, it is just a change of circumstances as your husband will not be entitled to claim UC as he has reached state pension age
Whether or not you will be eligible for UC will depend on your husbands income from both his employment and his state pension, as UC is a means tested benefit.
I would advise you to seek help from your local Welfare Rights Organisation who will be able to take all your circumstances into consideration; advicelocal.uk
