Hi Lindsey
You are my second post tonight to bring up PIP and driving.
LL26 wrote a very good answer to this question awhile ago which I have pinned to the start of the forum: www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/kunena/10-dla-...8543-pip-and-driving

Thanks Gary - how do I view others posts as I cant seem to se them?
My son has ASD and ADHD so it was more information on the planning routes sort of stuff and the fact we have to practice with him any new journeys.....the only things i can find are horror stories ie the fact he can drive means he wont get PIP!
Thanks

Hi Lindseyf
Remember, it is not about his ability to 'drive'. It is about his ability to plan and follow a journey. (Hee could use any mode of transport to take the journey) There is advice in the guide on how to answer this question. If he finds it difficult to leave the house and needs support before he gets into a car, say so. Please focus on the support he needs and do not give the impression he manages well if he doesn't.

Hi Lindseyf
You are right there are a lot of horror stories re driving and some assessors will try and say that it precludes people from having PIP - but it shouldn't. Focus on his difficulties and not on the driving. And if you don't get asked about it - don't bring it up.
