DLA & ESA Tribunal dates was created by lochlisa
Just checked with local Tribunal service and have been advised that my ESA appeal hearing is subjected to up to 60, yes sixty, weeks from receipt so not to expect a hearing until October 2012

my DLA is subjected to up to 68, yes sixty eight, weeks from receipt so not to expect a hearing until December 2012

This is absolutely disgraceful but just goes to show the number of cases going to appeal because of poor decisions.

This is a mockery, especially as I have been told that I should expect another ESA medical in April 2012 which is going to be before my existing appeal is even heard.

I really did burst out laughing when she told me those delays as I was shocked !

I was originally told January 2012, and have heard nothing so far, so that is why I called them to be told those new dates.

Email Chris Graying with this info and see what he's got to say given that he seems to live in la-la land when it comes to appeal waiting times!!! :)

I'd certainly be inclined to let your MP know the current state of your appeal waiting times, you never know he/she may be able to expedite the situation.

The delays are due mainly to the large number of ESA appeals, plus staff cuts in DWP, with more to come.

When I sat on DLA Tribunals until I retired in 1995, in the North West Region the average wait for a DLA appeal was around 6 weeks, it's now 6 months.

Don't blame the Tribunals Service (TS), it's due to the Government introducing realms of new legislation but at the same time cutting jobs in the DWP.

Also, the majority of panel members who sit on tribunals work part-time, and TS also have been prevented from recruiting new panel members.

The actual number of appeals due to poor decision has fallen in the last year or so despite an increase in poor quality medical reports on which DM's often rely.

It's really time that Decision Maker's had 'face to face' contact with claimants. In my opinion that would reduce the number of appeals for ESA and DLA.
