This is the short link on Personal Independence Payment (PIP) on the DWP website. It is updated regularly, so I advise those interested to bookmark it.

On the HMSA forum we are trying to gain an insight of how pip will affect the members there, I will point them in this direction so that you can get some feedback too, (quite a few are b & w members) we are planning to submit to the consultation, deadline April 30th, many small voices will hopefully make one big voice.

The test does appear somewhat strict, and I think many people will find difficulty in completing it, and accumulating the required points. The reason! There are no grey areas, you either `can` or `cannot`. Given the scenario, it is very important to consider ones disability, and think in terms of `worst days`. Do not undervalue yourself. If on really bad days you cannot dress yourself, then this should be the box you tick.

Members need to be cautious of only explaining the effects of their conditions on their worst days, there have been several high profile fraud cases where the defendant had only used this reference when completing their DLA claim forms.

The accepted term is the majority of the time, meaning the majority of hours in a day and the majority of days in a week.

In this context it is perfectly accpetable to explain that how you are on your worst days, after all, we all have them.

Hope this explains it.
