So what does this mean if one has ltd capability for work and in WRAG and said return to work could be considered within 18 mnths

Hi PCM,

To be assessed as having "Limited Capability for Work", (LCW) means that you qualify for entry to the WRAG of ESA.

To be assessed as having " Limited Capability for Work Related Activity" (LCWRA), qualifies the claimant for entry to The Support Group of ESA.

Therefore it follows that if you are assessed as having LCWRA, you must also have LCW.

See WRAG (LCW) ESA Descriptors, here :

www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2011/228/schedule/1/made?view=plain

And Support Group (LCWRA) ESA Descriptors, here :

www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2011/228/schedule/2/made?view=plain

The recommendation that a "return to work could be considered within 18 months", is the "Prognosis".

This should be the approximate length of the ESA WRAG award, before a review takes place.

The document on the link below, may help with your understanding of the process. :
