I'll have to do some more checking to see if its worth all the hassle to get ESA instead of JSA.
Another thing, I have always signed on every two weeks but last week i saw an advisor i've never seen before and she informed me i now have to sign ob every week. i have no idea why; my grandson who is 21 signs on every two weeks still,so i dont get it.Any ideas? Should im request an official reason why?

We don't advise on JSA on the forum, but I can't see why you cannot ask!

I assume that the frequency of your appointments is part of your Job Search agreement, if this is the case then they it should require your agreement to the change, although I am not sure of the circumstances under which you can refuse.

In my last post, two months ago,i said that i had been transferred to weekly sign ons. However, the first week this was meant to happen,i got a phone call the day before to say that,as the Jobcentre staff were on strike that particular Thursday,i was to sign on the next Thursday as usual. When i did sign on,the Advisor said that i would be signing on the following week and every week afterwards. When i queried this and why i'd been changed to weekly, she looked at the screen for a few seconds then said, "Okay,we'll leave to fortnightly signings for now"! It just goes to show two things; 1) it is worth querying their decisions,as long as your polite of course & 2) these are clearly Advisory based decisions, and not "Orders from above" decisions. Its an interesting point. Also,Today when i signed on,I Was told (By another new Advisor-this is now my 7th!!) that as i'd been on JSA for 12 months i'm now to be put on a Work Programme. He Even showed me how my screen had been changed to "WP Participant". This would be Overseen by The Newcastle College Group. I spoke to a lady from the college group who told me that the Local Salvation Army would be where i was attending. She also said that i had to do 104 weeks on the course, and that even if i got a job they would check on me regularly upto the end of the 104 weeks. Can they do that? Dont i have any rights at all?? I mean,if i'm in work i'm no longer anything to do with them.I mean, there's nothing they could do to me,is there?

As previously advised we are extremely limited in the advice we can give in regard to JSA.

Re the Work Programme, if you are forwarded then it will be a two year period, there is no variation in this, however, your obligations to participate only exist while you are receiving either JSA or ESA, if you are lucky enough to find work that suits you then you do not need to deal with your Work Programme Provider anymore.

Unfortunately, from posts on other forums, the WPP may take a different view, you need to understand that they receive a payment for successfully placing claimant in long term work and they can be over zealous in protecting that income, so it is not unusual for them to continue to contact claimants after they have started work.

I believe that the obligation to complete the Work Program also continues into any new claim if the full time was not completed initially.

Thank you Gordon (And Mrs Hurtyback!).The Lady from The Newcastle College Group that i spoke to,definitely told me that if i get a job before the 104 weeks are up,they will still continue to check on me,which will include them calling me on my Mobile, and i was given the impression that this would continue right up till the 104 weeks end.I think its just weird, thars all
