I submitted the mandatory reconsideration about 3 weeks ago but have not has a acknowledgment, do they send one out for MR?
I thought I has seen that this was the intention, but having looked at a couple of documents I cannot find any confirmation of this, I would suggest that you phone the DWP and ask for confirmation that the request has been received and is being actioned.

I've just found out that my father has Peripheral Neuropathy. The Mandatory Reconsideration documents that I submitted for him explained the symptoms but did give the symptoms a name. Though he's been on the medication for this for a while and I send in prescriptions to show this. Do you think I should write a following letter to explain that he has PN or would they see this from the prescription list?

Hi m18,
Merry Xmas !!!
As it will be a DWP DM who carries out The MR, and DM's have no medical training or qualifications, it may be best to send the letter giving more details regarding the PN.
It is always best to assume that DWP or ATOS do not have any medical knowledge, even though they may have.
Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS

I would say it helped as I was put in the Support Group within 3 weeks of appealing.
Happy Christmas

Just an update.
CAB helped my father fill in DLA form in MAY 2013.
Nov 2013, he was refused based on writing to his consultant who wasn't in a position to comment on his care and mobility needs. DWP didn't receive a response from his GP after writing to him. DWP even got HCP to comment and write a report based on his condition and medicine and they didn't think he was 'disabled' enough.
This is where I got involved. After getting heaps of information and help from you mods and guides from this website, I practically helped my father re-write the application form again giving as much information as possible, without realising, this soon became 26 pages.
I helped gather reports from consultant, got his GP to write a support letter, kept a diary, prescriptions and any appointment letters together which mounted to another 20 + pages.
He send this in with a letter to ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration in Nov 2013
Today he gets a decision:
High Rate Mobility
High Rate Care
for 3 years
Wow couldn't believe it. Nor could my father. But thanks to your guilds this has made it possible. He can now start to think about himself and get the help that he deserves.
Thank you once again.
